Community Connections
Investing in Our Community
Whether it's corporate sponsorship for nonprofits, free financial education for adults and high school students, or employee volunteer efforts, Corning Credit Union is committed to making a positive and lasting difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors. Our understanding of the needs and challenges of the people we serve has helped to strengthen our ties to the community.
Staying connected to the community has made CCU a leading financial institution. Our activities generally focus on four areas we feel are important to the community's well-being:
- Financial Literacy for Adults and Young People
- Education and Youth Programs
- Affordable Housing and Home Ownership
- Programs Benefiting Disadvantaged Families
Partnering. Investing. Building. By providing the right financial tools and lending our support, we are working with our local communities to create a solid foundation for the future.
Adult Education Initiatives
Free StraightTalksm Seminars feature nationally known consumer advocate Remar Sutton. All seminars are open to the public and are held in the spring and fall each year. Topics such as Home Buying, Fraud Prevention, and Car Buying Tips are presented in a casual and informative manner.
High School Programs
CCU has also partnered with Remar Sutton to provide an innovative educational program to teach financial fitness to high school students. The website program, designed by young people for young people, is called "IsThatSo?" and can be found in the "Member Resources" section of our website. Each year hundreds of students benefit from this program, which is taught in the classroom and utilized throughout the school year.
Volunteer Efforts
Whether it's blood drives or walking miles for Multiple Sclerosis, our team of employees contribute over one thousand hours of community service each year. We encourage our team of employees, from those just joining CCU to the most seasoned executives, to enrich their lives by participating in volunteer programs.
Support beyond Volunteerism
CCU makes significant financial contributions which benefit local nonprofit organizations and youth programs. Some of these organizations include Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, Little League, and many more.
