As our communities begin to slowly re-open during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we know our members may be experiencing new challenges or financial hardships. If you’re facing a change in your employment status or a challenging financial situation, we’re here for you.

We offer a variety of helpful resources, and our Member Assistance Program is free and confidential. Together we can work through your financial situation and determine the options available to you based on your unique circumstances. If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the past few months, it’s that we’re stronger together. Now, let’s move forward together. 






Assistance for our Members

We know this pandemic has affected everyone, and many are facing financial hardships. Please know that we are always here for you. Here's what we're doing to help:  

  • Stronger Together Emergency Relief Loan* 
    If you're a member experiencing a financial hardship due to COVID-19 (coronavirus), we're offering a relief loan for $500 to $5,000 with no interest and no payments for the first 3 months, then 1.99% APR** for up to 36 months1.

  • Payment Relief 
    Skip-A-Payment*. Now you can skip up to 3 consecutive payments per 6-month period on qualifying loans, and we'll waive the fee. Requests can be made 24/7 within online banking and our mobile app. Learn more here.

    Loan Payment Deferrals*. Members needing additional assistance are eligible for loan payment deferrals2. If you’re experiencing a financial hardship or anticipate one in the future, please contact us to see if you’re eligible, and then we’ll work to determine the best option for you. 

  • Unsecured Home Improvement Loan
    We understand this may be a challenging time to begin or even complete a home improvement project, but when you're ready, we’re here to help. Our unsecured home improvement loan is a great option if you're looking to make home improvements but don't have substantial equity in your home. Unlike Home Equity loans, this loan option allows you to borrow up to $25,000 for home improvement projects without needing to borrow against your home. Learn more.

  • Debt Consolidation & Restructuring Existing Loans
    Debt Consolidation. Call us to learn how we can help consolidate or restructure other debt you may have to help lower your monthly payments.

    Other ways to manage your money. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we adjust to meet your needs and ensure the safety of our members and our team. In the meantime, we offer a variety of convenient services to help you easily manage your money.

    Access to team members who are here to help. Now more than ever, we understand wanting to talk to a person. We’ve prioritized staffing our member services areas, including email, Message Center in digital banking, and our call center.

  • Our Business Members
    We're also working with existing business members, helping them understand their options for existing or new loans as they reopen. As an SBA lender, we stand ready to advise our business members on the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which established temporary Small Business Administration (SBA) programs to assist small businesses, including:

    Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). The PPP loan forgiveness application and guidance is now available from the SBA. If you're receiving a PPP loan, contact us for assistance going through the process.

    Economic Injury Disaster Loan Emergency Advance (EIDL)

    To ensure we're able to best assist our existing members, we are currently not accepting new business member applications.

Our Commitment to Our Communities

  • Donations to Food Banks / Pantries
    We've committed $37,000 to help fight food scarcity in all of our markets.

    • Community Needs
      We are focusing on the biggest needs in each community as the situation develops, working with area nonprofits and small businesses to determine needs.
      • Buy Now, Shop Later - Corning's Gaffer District. We're proud to have matched $50,000 of gift certificate purchases made by our community. 
      • Feeding the Fearless - Cape Fear Area. We partnered with WECT and Cape Fear Weekend and their Feeding the Fearless campaign. Every Wednesday from April 22 - May 27, we purchased a $100 gift card from a featured local restaurant and donated it to area healthcare and first responder heroes.

    • Commitment to Nonprofit Sponsorships
      Finally, we are keeping the commitments we made for non-profit event sponsorships that have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Give Help, Get Help

    We're all in this together. If you're able, there are some things you can do to keep yourself safe and help others.

    • Stay Safe
      Follow guidance from local, state and federal authorities. For the latest information on COVID-19, visit the CDC or WHO websites.

    • Economic Impact Payments
      The IRS has made Economic Impact Payments. Get more information here.

    • Support Local Businesses
      Order takeout or delivery from a local restaurant, and purchase gift certificates from local businesses. Purchase meals or gift certificates and donate them to essential staff to show your appreciation.

    • Donate to Your Local Food Bank
      Food banks are in critical need of food and monetary donations. If you're able, please consider donating. Find a local food bank or pantry near you.

    • Donate Blood
      The American Red Cross is in urgent need of all blood types. If you're well, please consider donating. Learn more about blood donation during the pandemic.

    • Protect Yourself from Scams
      Unfortunately, fraudsters are taking advantage of public fears and uncertainty about COVID-19. Please know that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) or World Health Organization (WHO) won’t email you, and you can't receive your check from the government faster by paying a fee. For the latest coronavirus information, visit their websites directly. For more information on this scam and to learn more tips for how you can protect yourself, visit the Federal Trade Commission's website.

    • Mental Health Support
      For emotional support during these difficult times, visit the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) website and to find a location near you. In addition, the CDC website has a number of resources to help you cope.

    • United Way assistance
      If you need assistance finding food, paying housing bills, or other essential services, visit http://211.org/services/covid19 to find your local 211 or dial 2-1-1 to speak to someone who can help.
