Corning Credit Union Awards College Scholarships

Corning Credit Union has awarded college scholarships to Corning-Painted Post High School seniors Ashlyn Amsden and Clara Davis to help finance their college education.

Applications for the CCU High School Scholarship Program are collected annually from eligible members.  Ashlyn and Clara were chosen based on their outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.

"We are very pleased to award these scholarships to our hard-working young members," said Neil Folnsbee, Youth Education Coordinator.  "It proves that the 'people helping people' philosophy of the credit union movement is alive and well here in the Elmira-Corning area."

Both Ashlyn and Clara are also recipients of the 2017 New York Credit Union Association (NYCUA) Scholarship and the 2017 NYCUA Finger Lakes Credit Union Chapter Scholarship. Both students received $2,000 in total awards.

In the fall, Ashlyn plans to attend the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University.  Clara will launch her journey in higher education at St. John's University and will study Pharmacy.
