Can you share some information about you and your business?

My family and I grew up on Keuka Lake enjoying the summers on the water. This experience is what really led us to start this business because we want to show others how to get out on the water and have fun. We opened in 2003 with just two rental boats, one jet-ski, and twelve storage unit customers. Since then, we have expanded to several rental boats, jet-skis, kayaks, paddleboards, sailboats, and have stored well over 1,000 boats in and around our 12,000 sq. foot indoor winter storage facility. We have also been able to expand into boat sales, primarily with pontoon and deck boats.

What is your business philosophy?

The key to our business is to provide a good product for our customers and take care of them as a strong family business. We really strive to make boating fun, safe, and easy.

What motivated you to talk with Corning Credit Union about your business needs?

I was struggling with business loans with our previous bank and a friend of mine said “why don’t you try the credit union?” Now Corning Credit Union has all of our business, so it worked out great.

How has CCU helped your business?

We originally started with a different bank but as we grew, we needed more funding and CCU made that happen.  CCU helps us to grow year after year – which allows us to expand our business. It’s a win-win!

Would you share some information about your business?

Jones Landscaping has been in the Wilmington, NC area since 2005 and employs 22 landscape professionals. I am the owner and operator of the business and have more than 19 years of experience in the landscaping industry. During this time, I have engaged in every phase of landscaping from conception to implementation. I have been responsible for the design and installation of projects ranging from small residential properties to large commercial sites. Between myself and my staff, our credentials include:

What is your business philosophy?

There is a distinct difference between Jones Landscaping and many other landscape firms – we strive for excellence. Our customers are important to us, and their satisfaction is our priority – always! Our commitment is to provide clients with complete, dependable service. We take pride in our work so that customers can take pride in their landscape. We want to be an asset to our community by striving to implement high standards to beautify the area. For this dedication, we were honored by the Cape Fear Garden Club in 2015 when they presented us with the “Beauty Spot Outstanding Landscaping Award” in the business category for significant and attractive landscaping.

Why did you decide to work with CCU?

Our commitment to customer satisfaction is a quality that is shared by CCU. Several years ago we had all of our banking accounts at another financial institution. After one commercial truck loan experience at CCU, we were so impressed with the professionalism and quick turn-around of the loan process that we switched all of our business and personal accounts to CCU. We have been consistently impressed with all the CCU employees and their commitment to cultivating relationships with their members. This rapport creates a unique banking atmosphere where you feel known and not just like an account number. For this reason, along with their commitment to excellence, Jones Landscaping will be a CCU member for many years to come.

Would you share some information about your business?

New Hanover Printing and Publishing has been in the Wilmington, NC area for over 30 years, under 3 different owners – my wife and I being the latest. “Business cards to Billboards” is a slogan that we’ve adopted to show just what we’re capable of. To create more of a benefit for the community, we have expanded the business to include various types of signage, including monument and wayward signs. In doing this, it allows our team to help customers maximize their marketing needs, while only dealing with one entity. With this expansion we are now a one-stop-shop for most of your marketing and business needs. No matter the size of the print, design, mailing, or publishing job, we are here to serve and provide the best products and experience possible.

What is your business philosophy?

This business has been built on quality and customer service for many years and has maintained a substantial customer base. We plan to keep that same quality and customer service with our ownership, renewing that emphasis with many more product lines that are a result of our latest addition of signage.

What was the biggest surprise you encountered regarding your business?

In the beginning, it wasn’t obvious to me what all was involved with printing. It became apparent, very quickly, that it was a lot more involved than just pressing a few buttons. Our staff members that remained with the company from previous owners are very well educated with the processes and have been a huge asset to keeping our customers happy and satisfied. It is because of this, that we have been able to add additions and offer a greater variety of products to choose from without any major setbacks.

What were your experiences when you searched for a financial institution to help your business and why did you decide to work with CCU?

I ultimately chose CCU because of the rates, the knowledge provided to me about the lending process as a small business, and because I was told up front about the limitations of what I could and couldn’t borrow, without any additional processes. When I reached out to several other financial institutions, I wasn’t provided with that detailed information and there were other processes that were not as easy and would have slowed everything down. I didn’t know about CCU until recommended by a friend, and I am glad he did because it worked out really well.

How did CCU help with your financial needs?

I expected the process to be more difficult but CCU made it very easy. The ease of being able to work with everyone at CCU, getting everything organized, getting the loan, and the communication of the whole process was a breeze. The entire staff at your 17th Street Extension Branch in Wilmington was very helpful and they are always able to provide what I need. The attitude of everyone in the branch is always friendly and helpful.
